Throughout history, illustrators have used their skills to tell stories, convey important information, foster conversations, and bring joy to the lives of those who see their works. Though the importance and relevance of illustration is undeniable, there is sometimes a disconnect between artists working in illustration and the fine art / gallery scene.

And that’s something that Brittany Smith, Vice President of the Avondale Arts Alliance and owner of the Book Bird of Avondale Estates, hopes to change.

Smith has curated Drawn Together, a showcase of illustrators who work in books, editorial, greeting cards, storyboards, comics, and more at the Avondale Arts Center.

The group exhibition will open on Sat., July 20 from 7-10 p.m. and will close on Sat., Aug. 17. The Avondale Arts Center is also open on Sunday mornings from 10-1 and by appointment.
